Appointments

Appointments can be made either by calling in to the surgery between 8.00am - 6.30pm, or by telephoning the surgery between 8.00am and 6.30pm Monday to Friday. Appointments are available Monday to Friday 8.00am – 6.30pm.

We will ask you questions about why you need an appointment and will sometimes direct you to an alternative healthcare practitioner – this may be a pharmacist, dentist, optician or other local service.

We offer:

SAME DAY / EMERGENCY APPOINTMENTS

These can be booked from 8am and should be booked if you need to see a GP that day. Although there is a choice of doctors we cannot always guarantee the doctor requested.

URGENT APPOINTMENTS

If you need to be seen urgently please telephone or come in to the surgery straight away. You will be offered an appointment the same day, but it may not be with  the clinician of your choice.

PRE-BOOKED APPOINTMENTS

You may book with a clinician of choice up to 4 weeks in advance.  However note that clinicians are sometimes away, which will impact the number of appointments available.

TELEPHONE CONSULTATION

Patients do not need to see a doctor for all illnesses or enquiries and therefore we offer telephone consultation with a clinician. You will be given an approximate time when the doctor will telephone you to discuss.

TELEPHONE AVAILABILITY/ADVICE

We offer telephone consultations, either on the day or in advance.

The advantage of these appointments is that you can have your consultation over the telephone without leaving home.

Our appointments line is open from 8.00 -18.30 Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays.

It is important that you provide us with the best contact number in order for the GP to call you back.

ROUTINE APPOINTMENTS

All consultations are by appointment only. Please make an appointment by telephoning or calling in at the surgery. An adult should accompany children under 14.

Please cancel your appointment if you are unable to attend, as this appointment may be needed by someone else.

Each week we lose valuable doctor and nurse time when people fail to cancel their appointments. If you are unable to attend for your appointment or no longer require it, please let us know at the earliest opportunity.

Training Practice

As a training practice we have doctors who join us for a six month placement.  From time to time a medical student from the University of Wales Cardiff may accompany one of the doctors. Your help in allowing them to be present in a consultation would be much appreciated. You will always be asked if this is acceptable to you

HOME VISITS

A Home Visit is provided when a patient who is house bound and unable to attend the surgery, or a resident in a care/nursing home are too unwell too attend the surgery.

OUT OF HOURS

Should you need to access to a doctor outside of surgery hours, please dial 111.

NURSE / HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT CLINICS

All Nurse clinic appointments are available to book in advance.

These staff are vital to the well being of our patients and can help/advise on a vast range of medical conditions including:

  • Cervical Smear tests
  • Minor Illness / Wound care and dressings / Blood pressure checks
  • Chronic disease clinics : Diabetes, respiratory, heart disease etc
  • Lifestyle advice

BLOOD TESTS

Blood tests are by appointment only.  This is to prevent patients waiting for long periods in the surgery.  Blood test appointments are available from 8.30am Monday to Friday. Please ring the surgery to book.
